A guided, interactive simulation built from the real OS’s artwork and text: boot it, unlock it, set it up, click around the desktop and try the terminal.
Interactive simulation — not the real OS. Nothing you type leaves this page, and nothing is stored. The real thing is a 9 GB installable system; here’s how to get it.

Power on
No boot menu, no countdown: Arkyn goes straight to its splash. Hold Esc (UEFI) or Shift (BIOS) if you need the menu.
In the real OS: the splash is Plymouth with the Sovrant T and the slogan; the menu is GRUB with the Arkyn theme.

Unlock the disk
Your disk is encrypted, so the first thing Arkyn asks for is the passphrase. Without it, the laptop is just noise to anyone else.
In the real OS: LUKS2 full-disk encryption, ticked by default in the installer. One prompt, at boot. A lost passphrase cannot be recovered.

The login screen shows your wallpaper. Pick the Sov session (or COSMIC — they start the same desktop).
In the real OS: a short login chime plays after you sign in (“Russian Snow Camo” by Drake Stafford, CC BY 4.0). Here it only plays if you tick the box.

Arkyn Setup
Secure.Private.Yours.
Welcome to Arkyn OS.
A few minutes to make it yours: get online, add your fingerprint, sign in, pair your phone and pick a look. Skip anything — Arkyn Setup stays in the app library.
Wi-Fi
Pick your network and type its password.
Home ▂▄▆█
Café-Guest ▂▄▆
Office ▂▄
The password goes straight to NetworkManager; Arkyn keeps no copy. Every network sees a random hardware address, never your laptop’s real one.
Fingerprint
Touch the reader a few times.
Then your finger unlocks login and sudo. The disk passphrase and the first keyring unlock still need your password. Shown only when a reader is present.
Appearance
Dark or light, and a wallpaper.
Your pick follows you to the desktop chapter. More in Sov Settings.
Accounts
Claude Code Anthropic’s coding assistant in your terminal. Sign in with your own account.
Git & GitHub Your name and email for commits, then sign in to GitHub in the browser.
Proton VPN, Mail, Pass and Authenticator are installed — open one and sign in.
Mullvad Paste your account number to log in, or open the app.
Your phone
Install KDE Connect from F-Droid — scan the code.
Join the same Wi-Fi as this laptop.
Open the app on the phone, press Pair.
Accept on the phone; check both screens show the same key.
Battery
Charging stops at 80 % and restarts below 75 %.
Need a full charge? Battery menu in the top panel › switch off “Max charge”. Switch it back on later. Shown only on laptops that support it.
Tips
Launcher
Tap the Super key and start typing to open an app, a file or a setting.
All set
Thank you for installing Arkyn OS. It is yours now.

Arkyn Setup
At your first login, Arkyn Setup walks you through Wi-Fi, fingerprint, appearance, accounts, your phone and battery care. Every step can be skipped.
The words here are Arkyn Setup’s own. It runs again any time from the app library (System).

Sov Terminal
A pretend shell that answers with what the real system prints. Type a command or click one of the suggestions.
Outputs use the OS’s real logo, tips, os-release, DNS settings and firewall rules. Machine-specific values (addresses, battery) are examples.

Your phone
KDE Connect with a GrapheneOS phone: laptop → phone clipboard is automatic; phone → laptop takes a tap.
The firewall lets KDE Connect in only from private home and office networks, never from the internet. The plugins crossed out are switched off for every paired phone.
