Your first boot

  1. Unlock the disk. Enter your passphrase at the Arkyn unlock screen.
  2. Log in. The login screen offers two sessions, Sov and COSMIC — they start the same desktop.
  3. Arkyn Setup opens (once, after the first restart). See Arkyn Setup. Every page can be skipped.
  4. Sign in to your own accounts. Claude Code and the GitHub CLI are installed but signed out — run claude and gh auth login with your own accounts, or use the Accounts page in Arkyn Setup.
  5. Updates catch up by themselves. Shortly after the first boot, pending security and stable updates install in the background — on mains power, or with at least 50 % battery. Nothing waits for it, and it never restarts the computer. You can also run:
    Terminal window
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
  6. VPNs. Proton VPN and Mullvad VPN are in the app library. Sign in with your own accounts and connect only one VPN at a time.
