Battery care

On laptops whose firmware supports charge limits (ThinkPads do), Arkyn stops charging at 80 % and starts again below 75 %. Lithium batteries age fastest when kept full; a laptop that lives on a desk can keep its battery for years longer.

Click the battery in the top panel and switch off Max charge — charging then goes to 100 % (and restarts below 95 %). Switch it back on afterwards.

You can also use Battery Charge Limit in the app library (System), or a terminal:

Terminal window
arkyn-battery status # the mode and each battery's thresholds
arkyn-battery 100 # charge to full
arkyn-battery 80 # back to battery care
arkyn-battery toggle # switch between the two

The setting survives restarts, battery swaps and BIOS resets. Laptops without charge-limit support simply ignore it.
